A lightsaber is a symbol for what??

Hey fellas, it's been a while. Says something about the recent state of Star Wars that I gotta come back on here. I saw Jay (Drunk3PO) cover this in a video and I had a look at the interview myself that Collider recently did with Lesley Headland, and I think overall the interview really just highlights the damage that is done when people like Lesley are hired for these franchises like Star Wars.  In the interview, one of the things they talk about is the bleeding of the crystal in the finale and about lightsabers in general. Now Lesley uses the term “we've” in the following response, and I'm not sure if this is just Lesley,  or including James Friend or everyone on the creative team. But, she lets the interviewer finish her thoughts on how she sees lightsabers as a “phallic symbol”, to which Lesley responds with “Exactly”. Now I know it wasn't Lesley herself that uses the term, but to turn a lightsaber into something sexual seems very extreme, and if that's not what she was trying to say, she would have given an alternative word of what she was trying to get at.  So the fact that Lesley is in agreeance, or at least not in disagreement with the interviewer, quiet heavily suggests that Lesley's line of thinking was not too far off. There has been a fair bit of talk about everything being sexualised in The Acolyte, but this probably takes the cake for me. As I said at the start, it's times like these that prove that these showrunners, writers or actors shouldn't be hired. They're activists rather than creators trying to push their own agendas ahead of telling captivating stories that continue George's legacy. I'm not even sure if this was just an attempt to make Star Wars more “adult friendly” like what Andor apparently was, which, to be honest, I don't mind then aiming towards with some shows. But sexualising a lightsaber isn't making something “more for grown ups”, it's completely misinterpreting the franchise, and as I said before, pushing your own agenda into the Star Wars universe. But the lightsaber for me will continue to be a symbol of the Jedi and peace and connection to the force. Thanks for reading lads. MTFBWY Cheers Thrawn

Bad Batch S2 Ep13

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. Well after an absolute banger of an episode last week, I was feeling super hyped for this week's episode. But, as I should have guessed, it wouldn't be three in a row for me. Just as this episode started, I had that surge of doubt you get when you sense Cid's presence. The start wasn't too bad with some cool action, and a pretty standard escape. Again, I am liking this CD of Tech and I am getting that feeling as if something big is going to happen to him. I think Dave saw that we didn't have much of a connection with the members of the Batch and is now getting us closer with Tech so as that, as I presume, his sacrifice will hit more than anyone else's. But then the episode just when downhill with Palu and all that. I found I had the same problem with this episode as I did with most of Andor. I didn't really get that Sci-fi feel that I regularly get in this series, and something that I really enjoyed about the OG Star Wars. I understand that they are a refugee island and don't have a lot, but I was just getting like Moana vibes or along those lines. Even the boat Omega went out on felt too close to home to be considered even close to Sci-fi. However, the main problem I had with this episode, was the problem, the conflict. Like a Tsunami? Is that the best they could think of? If it didn't feel like it wasn't using generic conventions before, surely now it is way out of its league? And of course, everyone gets to safety and now they just rebuild and live happily ever after. As I would say, very 'weak sauce' plot. Although I didn't enjoy this episode, I do understand that I probably wasn't the intended target audience for this episode. I'm probably 10 years too old for it, but nonetheless it still disappointed my day. Hope you guys enjoyed it more than me and can't wait to hear your thoughts on the episode! MTFBWY Cheers Thrawn

Bad Batch S2 Ep12

Hey everyone, hope this past week as treated you well, Well another double Wednesday for us! Last week's BB episode sat really good for me and I was super hyped coming into this week. It has to be said though, this episode topped last week for me. Awesome to see Crosshair again and what he is up to. I think this episode really just focused right in on that idea of clones being expendable to others, which was awesome. The new Lieutenant guy was such a hateable character, like the guy literally looked like a Nazi with his blonde hair and blue eyes! It was also really cool (well more sad) to see how Commander Mayday and his troops all died trying to protect just armour and resources for the new stormtroopers. Really symbolises how much more the Empire cared about the incoming stormtroopers over the clones. Another cool detail I really liked was those bird looking things. For me they resembled the eagles we commonly see soaring through the sky. And as we all know (hopefully!) eagles are a symbol for freedom. Which was a foreshadowing of Crosshair's eventual break free of his programing to kill the Lieutenant (hopefully not too much of a stretch). During this episode I was just on the edge of my seat waiting for Crosshair to kill the w*nker, and when he finally did I was celebrating with both arms in the air. Overall I really epic episode that probably used the nostalgia aspect of TCW to its advantage really well. With Crosshair at Tantiss now it will be interesting to see what happens to him. I do have a strong feeling the Bad Batch will go to save him. Probably after they find Cody who is able to tell them that Crosshair was transferred there. Hope you all enjoyed this episode as much as I did and can't wait to see your thoughts in the comments! MTFBWY Cheers Thrawn

Cid's Batch (Bad Batch) S2 Ep9

Hey everyone, hope you are keeping well. Well, after a pretty good week last week for most BB viewers, it was kind of expected that this week would feature another Cid mission and some more filler. For me, most of this episode was pretty boring and lackluster. As soon as I heard Cid's name I cried into my pillow. Nothing really got me invested into this episode, which was probably the main reason it didn't excite me. Probably too much Omega and Wrecker in this episode to be a favourite or even likeable one. However, I do acknowledge that there was a lot of necessary CD in this episode for Omega and, mainly Tech. I do think it was worthwhile going into depth of how Tech's enhancements had led him to be too logically minded that he had almost lost his emotions and empathy. Having Tech talk about being a soldier and how they must adapt to new situations was quite interesting a slightly moving. I feel like it is important to respect the fact that Omega doesn't really have a family, and so the Bad Batch is the closest thing she can get. So having Omega talk to Tech about how losing Echo is like losing a family member was a highlight of the episode. I will say though that I did get quite worried a few times Omega started looking at the Ipsium pockets because I thought they were gonna make them like Kyber crystals and then all of a sudden Omega is force-sensitive. I will note while writing this that it didn't make a huge amount of sense why the nearest establishment was abandoned since there were apparent regular poachers. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the episode! MTFFBWY Cheers Thrawn

Tales of the Jedi Revelation

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. I think everyone on here has been able to observe that the TOTJ series has had an obsoletely amazing response. Fans are already wanting a sith version and more seasons! And I have to say that this series sparked emotions that Disney have only provided in season 7 of CW. And although this is such a win for Disney and fans, I think we also can't overlook how this series also highlights the incompetency of Disney's management. I shouldn't need to tell anyone that Kathleen and others haven't excelled in their positions, but the length and budget on this show once again shows exactly this. To me this series feels as if the heads of LF have dipped their toes in the water to see the response of fans for content like this. As a storyteller I know it is quite hard to actually construct compelling stories in such short time, which I think is the only downfall of TOTJ. Ten minutes isn't really enough to construct a detailed plot. I'm quite confused why Disney didn't put more resources into this series, and why they needed to test audience responses. They are willing to put loads into Andor, hour long episodes in a 12 episode season. But when it comes to TOTJ, the uncertainty of fans responses overrides risk. To me, it should have been a given that fans would love this. These stories should of been longer, or just straight movies! But, as I mentioned, I think this just shows the incompetency of Disney and their lack of connection with their fanbase. They were to cautious in stories (written by Dave) that involved no risk at all. Thanks for reading guys, interesting to see your thoughts on this and  where Disney go with this mode of storytelling.
