Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well.
Well after an absolute banger of an episode last week, I was feeling super hyped for this week's episode. But, as I should have guessed, it wouldn't be three in a row for me.
Just as this episode started, I had that surge of doubt you get when you sense Cid's presence. The start wasn't too bad with some cool action, and a pretty standard escape. Again, I am liking this CD of Tech and I am getting that feeling as if something big is going to happen to him. I think Dave saw that we didn't have much of a connection with the members of the Batch and is now getting us closer with Tech so as that, as I presume, his sacrifice will hit more than anyone else's. But then the episode just when downhill with Palu and all that.
I found I had the same problem with this episode as I did with most of Andor. I didn't really get that Sci-fi feel that I regularly get in this series, and something that I really enjoyed about the OG Star Wars. I understand that they are a refugee island and don't have a lot, but I was just getting like Moana vibes or along those lines. Even the boat Omega went out on felt too close to home to be considered even close to Sci-fi.
However, the main problem I had with this episode, was the problem, the conflict. Like a Tsunami? Is that the best they could think of? If it didn't feel like it wasn't using generic conventions before, surely now it is way out of its league? And of course, everyone gets to safety and now they just rebuild and live happily ever after. As I would say, very 'weak sauce' plot.
Although I didn't enjoy this episode, I do understand that I probably wasn't the intended target audience for this episode. I'm probably 10 years too old for it, but nonetheless it still disappointed my day.
Hope you guys enjoyed it more than me and can't wait to hear your thoughts on the episode!
