Now that Vader and Kenobi have finally confronted each other for the first time in 10 years, we can definitely say that Vader savored that moment when he threw Obi in the flames. Something interesting to point out though is Vader’s use of tense when it comes to his words. When Obi Wan asks him what he has become, he says “I am what you made me.” In Return of the Jedi and Star Wars Rebels, we see Vader refer to himself and Anakin as two different people. Here he talks to Obi Wan as if it’s a hate-filled Anakin dissociating from his Vader persona to throw blame and guilt on Kenobi for how he ended up. This could also be Vader talking about his physical appearance as Anakin and Vader are physically the same person, with Vader consuming the majority of his personality. This is most likely the conflict in the character Hayden was talking about when asked about Vader’s demeanor in the show. A part of Anakin comes out of Vader because he has so much anger and hatred for the man who he blames to be the reason he lost his wife and the loss of his faith in the Jedi altogether
