During the Battle of Umbara, Jedi General Pong Krell was manipulating the clones of the 501st Infantry into fighting seemingly unwinnable battles, which would have been completely failed missions if not for the ingenuity of Fives, Jesse, and Hardcase. Krell ordered them to be killed for defying his orders, but the other clones disobeyed him and, when he ordered them to fire on another group of clones under the pretense that they were Umbarans wearing Republic armor, they decided to remove him from command themselves. He was captured after a fierce attempt to fend off the clones and revealed that he was using the clones to hinder the Republic's campaign on Umbara, hoping that this would catch Dooku's attention and that the Sith lord would make him an apprentice in Ventress' place. He was subsequently killed by Dogma, a clone who had followed him and wanted revenge for his betrayal.
Keeping all the information above in mind, what would have happened if Pong Krell wasn't killed but instead defeated the clones? Would the Jedi have learned of this and come to stop him, or would they have been oblivious to his schemes? On top of that, how would Dooku have acted: would he take him as an apprentice, would he have killed Krell, or would he simply have ingored him? And if not Dooku, what about Sidious? This is a concept that I believe has a great deal of potential for affecting the Star Wars story, and I'm quite interested in seeing how you think this change would alter the story.
