Hi. As a Star Wars lore noob, I’ve got a question about lightsaber duels. It seems like a combatant would need some sort of force defense in order to avoid cheap tricks (i.e. force pulling your boot, firing a bystanders blaster at you). Is this the case?
It depends on the Midichlorians of the user. In the battle on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith, the two combatants attempt a force push simultaneously, but their force abilities are almost equal. This causes them to both fly back.
Whereas Dooku is much more powerful than Obi Wan in their final battle and is able to lift Obi Wan and toss him with ease.
However, even force users have blind spots (ie. Order 66).
It seems that there’s just so much crap you could pull, it’s a wonder that finding your opponent’s blind spot doesn’t play a larger role.
