I have been a Star Wars fan my entire life, and have always favored the original movies over the prequels that were made later. Even with the fancy new graphics and scenes in the prequels I think that it is nearly impossible to beat the old movies. That being said, when I saw Rogue One it immediately became one of my favorite Star Wars of all time. I think that the story starts slow, but is put together with great detail, and then comes together at the end perfectly when the message is delivered. I have heard a lot of criticism about it saying that it is pointless because just about every character dies, but I think it tells an incredible story. I wanted to hear what everyone else’s impression of it was to see if I’m the only one who genuinely loved it.
Great movie. Has new and unique species and races amongst the star wars universe, stunning visual cinematography, new exotic worlds and planets as well as the more known ones like Mustafar and Yavin Four. Has very interesting characters such as Chirrut Imwe and Krennic and brings in some old favorites like Tarkin and Vader. Has good comedy and exciting new vehicles. Gives us some incredible action and simply insane moments like Chirrut Imwe vs the stormtroopers or the Vader hallway scene. I like the dynamic between Krennic and Tarkin on the creation of the death star as I do the tie-in to a new hope. Although not as good as Williams, Giacchino brings a great score with standouts for me being The Imperial Suite and the untitled Director Krennic theme. I give it a 9 out of 10.
