Hello everyone! It has been a very long time since I have lasted posted on this website, and I'm not sure how many people will remember me, but I have been feeling the urge to come back (at least temporarily) for a while now.
I want to give a quick explanation: the main reason that I stepped away from hanging out here was simply that I couldn't find/make time for it. I've some poor time-management decisions not long after my last post, and while I wouldn't say that my life has been bad, it has been a bit rough. Additionally, I sort of lost interest in Star Wars for a little bit and started exploring--or in some cases reexploring--other things (DC, Marvel, Halo, Star Trek (the movies and shows from prior to 2005, I couldn't care less about anything Paramount has made since then, except for Picard Season 3), Warhammer 40,000/Fantasy/Age of Sigmar, etc.). I recently watched the Old Republic cinematic trailers again for the first time in about a year, and in a way they restored my interest in Star Wars. I am still a much bigger fan of the Legends continuity than most things canon, but that doesn't mean I am entirely on that side of the spectrum. Now, enough about me, on to the topic of the post.
As I said above, I recently watched the Old Republic cinematic trailers again, and I have been thinking a lot about the one titled "Betrayed" in particular. Ever since I first saw it, I have been fascinated with the character of Vaylin, from her youth watching Thexan and Arcann training against the Knights of Zakuul, her discovery of her potential with the Force and her imprisonment on Nathema, to her ultimate rise to power as ruler of the Eternal Empire. The reason I bring all of this up is that I figured there was no better way to hop back on the site for a few minutes with one of my favorite kinds of content: a What If...? post.
Awesome art, no matter what the storyline is. For those who don't remember, as Vaylin was trapped on Nathema, Senya Tirall saw a vision of what Valkorion and the Nathema Zealots were turning her into. She went there in the dark with a squad of Knights of Zakuul to rescue her, but when she tried to extract Vaylin to their ship, Vaylin refused, and Valkorion and the Zealots arrived as the Knights forced Senya Tirall back onto the ship. After this Vaylin would become little more than a pawn for her father to play against his enemies (I do know the full story but I don't want to spend too much time going over it here). This is the original trailer if you either haven't seen it or would like to see it again.
When I was last here, the general intent of each post was to encourage community interaction, so I will keep from writing about what I think this would lead to and ask what all of you think would result in this scenario. To quote what I said in one of my past What If...? posts, "I have an image of how things would go differently, but I would be interested to hear what you think would have happened." How do you think the story would have been different if Vaylin had left with Senya Tirall, instead of staying on Nathema with Valkorion?
