Theory recently released a video about a Kylo/Rey theory he liked, and it reminded me of one I made some time ago on another YouTube channel's comment section.
We know that Rey and Kylo were in a Force dyad, ensuring the Force flowed even stronger through them, hence the Will of the Force could effect them to a greater degree.
During the Sequels, especially the Force Awakens, we see Rey escape certain peril/death at the hands of Kylo and the First Order several times with NO training, such as the mind trick on the stormtrooper and the lightsaber duel.
However, it is near certainty that Kylo was skilled with a lightsaber and mind tricks. What if, to keep the dyad intact for as long as possible (acting as a sentient being with self-preservation), the Force channeled thoughts, skills and instincts from Kylo and into Rey (especially during their battle) to keep the dyad alive? That would explain how Rey fought Kylo so easily while barely having seen a lightsaber before.
Were this the case, it would explain a great deal, such as how Rey became so powerful in 8 and 9 with so little training in so little time, and how she learned new abilities suddenly like heavy Force lift (8), Force Heal, (9), and Force Lightning (9). It would also add depth to the characters and create the possibility of the Force Dyad between other individuals with similar circumstances, i.e. how Revan survived Malak's firing on his position in KOTOR--getting hit by spaceship cannons and exposed to the vacuum of space for an unknown amount of time would certainly do more than give him a coma. What if Bastila's presence kept him alive long enough for treatment? There are a great many possibilities with this concept.
