I just finished playing Republic Commandos for the first time. I knew what happened but hadn't experienced it first hand and it's got me thinking.

Is this on? C'mon, you blasted-there we go. Hope this works. Ok. "My designation is RC-1207. My squadmates, my brothers call me Sev. If anyone is receiving this transmission, I am in need of evac. Boss, Fixer. Scorch. If you guys can hear this, I'm ok." Well, that was easy. Wait, what's this? Looks like some sort of log entry input. I think Scorch had something like this. Yeah. On Kamino, he had a "journal" or whatever he called it. Wrote in it every night. Till I found it. Then he burned it. I asked him why he did it and he told me that if you don't write it down it will be lost forever. Hopefully, that doesn't happen to me. Well here goes.
ENTRY 1. 1,072 days after the Battle of Geonosis (ABG). Kashyyk, Mytaranor sector.
My name is Sev. I've been missing from my squad for about 2 days now. It started when we were ordered to go to Kashyyk. We were tasked with aiding the Wookies against Separatist and Trandoshian forces. We first were just going to aid the Wookie chieftain, but things escalated. We had taken out most of the droid and Trando ground forces when the Seps pulled in a dreadnought. We were each tasked with manning a heavy turret and firing at the ship. We were able to take the thing down. We were supposed to rendezvous with 38, Boss, when I was swarmed with droids and lizards.
I called out to my squad. Telling the I was in trouble. But then our comms were jammed or something. I couldn't reach my team. There were 2 SBD's, I used a concussion rifle I had found earlier to eliminate them. There were some Trando mercs, but nothing my vibroblade couldn't handle. Things got bad when droidekas came. Their energy shields make things...complicated.

That's when something strange happened. My comm came back on. I could hear my squad. "We have to go back for him!" I heard Scorch yell. "62 do you copy?" I shouted above the din of battle Nothing. "62?!" Nothing. For some reason, I could hear them, but they couldn't hear me. Then I heard the advisor. "Delta Squad you have to get out now! That's an order!" Then I heard Boss' voice. "We're going back for him. I don't care if the order came from Yoda himself!"
"It did," the advisor said. I was shocked. Yoda? He was here? And he ordered my squad to leave me! Why couldn't he come to help me! He was a kriffing Jedi! Then Scorch spoke again. "I am not leaving him! You go ahead. I'm going to find Sev!" His voice was shaky. I think he was crying. I don't think I would have cried if we lost Scorch. Maybe.
I couldn't hear what they said next because the droidekas started firing. I took cover behind a wall. We had figured out how to take these things down a long time ago. Sniper rifle. I leaned out and shot their shields. It took a couple of tries but they went down. As I was aiming at one of their heads, a stray bolt caught me in the arm. It went straight through my armor. The droids took the opportunity to advance. I ran and ducked behind a fallen super battle droid. I was pinned. If I could get back into the village corridors I could lose them. Blaster bolts flew past my head.
That's when I could hear my squad. "He's my pod brother!" I heard Scorch say. There was static then I heard the advisor say "Your operation was just the beginning of our invasion of Kashyyk." That's when I looked up and saw the cruisers.

I knew that they couldn't come for me. This was bigger than me. Than us. This was for Wookie freedom. End log.
