I’m considering making this one of two duel rewrites for The Last Jedi, the second being the duel between Kylo Ren and Luke on Crait. In my version of this scene, Snoke toys with Rey just as he had in the movie before throwing her to Kylo’s feet to kill her. Kylo kills Snoke by activating Anakin’s lightsaber, but Snoke laughs menacingly and vanishes in a red flash. He speaks to Kylo, taunting him about how he had foreseen his apprentice’s betrayal, and then infuses his guards with his dark side powers, and they all kneel as a glowing red mist enters their bodies. The guards, all of whom are now controlled telepathically by Snoke, attack Rey and Kylo, who defend themselves as best as they can from the guards. Rey blocks one guard’s blade with her lightsaber and freezes another’s in place with the Force, but a third one comes in and swings at her head. She ducks, releasing her grip on both weapons as the blade passes directly over her head, and then swings her lightsaber through the bellies of all three before they can react. Meanwhile, Kylo dodges a thrust from one guard and flips over him, swinging his lightsaber to stab him in the back while shooting Force lightning at another guard. Two other guards come at him, but Kylo parries their blows for a few seconds before creating a miniature Force storm around the three of them and Force pushing outward, sending both guards flying away from him. Rey sees one and tosses her lightsaber through his armor, and the other one falls to the ground long enough for Kylo to land with his saber in his back. The last three guards charge at them, and Rey and Kylo exchange blows with them for several minutes. After a long and tense battle, Rey slides between one guard’s legs, spins around and prepares to slice through the guard’s torso, but the guard blasts Rey with Force lightning, hitting her in her cybernetic hand and causing her a great deal of pain. Snoke’s voice tells Kylo that Rey is in trouble, and the two guards fighting him redouble their assault. Fueling himself with his anger and hatred for Snoke, Kylo unleashes an enormous blast of Force energy in the direction of the guards, disintegrating them. Now unhindered, he mentally reaches out and grips the guard attacking Rey, crushing his neck like Luke did to the Dark Trooper in The Mandalorian. With all the guards dead, Snoke manifests himself before Rey and Kylo and announces that they have only won this battle, but in the end, the dark side shall be the victor for all eternity. Kylo, still fueled by the dark side after saving Rey, hurls himself forward at the spirit of the late Supreme Leader, but he vanishes again, his laugh echoing through the chamber.
