Leia OrganaLegend has it that her name was one of the last words spoken by her mother, Padmé Amidala, after giving birth on the Polis Massa asteroid colony. All records were deleted, as it was a dark time in the galaxy: the Republic had just fallen, Chancellor Palpatine named himself emperor, and the Jedi Order had been annihilated. One of the few surviving knights, Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, is said to have escorted a greatly weakened Amidala from the volcanic planet Mustafar, where Leia's father and her twin brother, Luke, disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Her mother did not survive that fateful night either. Kenobi had his reasons for believing that babies should remain hidden from the Emperor's gaze, then he gave the child to relatives of the late Anakin Skywalker and placed the child in the care of Bail and Breha Organa, senators from Alderaan, whose commitment to the democracy led them to play a fundamental role in the founding of a Rebel Alliance.
"I had a very happy and stable childhood," Leia would recall years later. "Two parents very much in love. I was raised in politics, but it never affected the family. Resisting the Empire never conflicted with bedtime story time, or our travels together, or the wonderful afternoons I spent riding my thranta under the sun". Shortly after coming of age, her father entrusted her with a vital mission for the Alliance: guarding the plans for the Death Star, Palpatine's ultimate weapon. The princess was shown the destructive power of that space station when Darth Vader (described by herself as "the Emperor's bloodhound") hijacked her ship and, in a cruel show of force, the Empire razed Alderaan to the ground. Not even the genocide of all her loved ones could get her: always steadfast and committed to the cause, Leia didn't say a word about the plans to Vader, until she was finally rescued from the Death Star by a teenager from the Stars. outer systems, a Wookiee, a protocol droid, the same metal head for whom she recorded a special message days before, an old mystic named Ben, and a smuggler whom Leia would describe on numerous occasions as a cheeky, scoundrel, and scoundrel, until finally realize that he was indeed the man of her life.
After leading crucial battles on Yavin (which culminated in the destruction of the Death Star) and Hoth, Leia Organa starred in the so-called Cloud City Crisis, during which her favorite scoundrel was frozen in carbonite and offered as a trophy to the nefarious Jabba the Hutt. Leia herself took charge of Han Solo's rescue operation, leading to a brief and unfortunate stint as a slave to the creeping giant lizard. Luckily, Leia escaped from that trap on Tatooine to participate in the Battle of Endor, the final trap of the Empire and the beginning of the New Galactic Republic. On a personal level, it was on this planet inhabited by curious furry creatures that Leia discovered that the blond teenager whom she had kissed on occasion was, in fact, her twin brother.
After marrying Solo, Leia resumed her activity as a galactic senator and gave birth to the couple's first and (as far as current records go) only son, Kylo Ren, as sensitive to the ways of the Force as his uncle Luke. . Tragedy soon struck the family home, however: Kylo allowed himself to be seduced by the Dark Side, breaking his parents' hearts and eventually precipitating the dissolution of his marriage. Soon after, chaos gripped the galaxy once more: the Republic fell once again, the First Order (made up of highly organized Imperial remnants) took power, and Leia had no choice but to once again lead the resistance against tyranny. As Supreme Commander, the former princess was once again reminded of her role throughout this saga of epic events: to keep the flame of hope alive in dark times. Her example continues to inspire thousands of girls across the galaxy, who need only look at her words and actions to know that being intimidated by powerful men is never an option. Being a princess is fine, but Leia Organa proved that there is nothing better than being a rebel.
