Star Wars TheoryWhen Qui Gon died, Dooku (reluctantly) pledged his allegiance to Darth Sidious. However, Yaddle had followed Dooku to the Sith's hideout on Coruscant and learned the truth about Dooku's allegiance and the Sith master. Yaddle and Dooku engage in a duel and Yaddle holds her own for a short while before Dooku closes the door on her. She then expends all of her remaining energy to lift the door with the force and fall back into her's and Dooku's battlefield, with Sidious still present. Dooku then assassinates her with his lightsaber, securing his path in the dark side.
Obviously, there was no way for her to survive once she fell back inside the Sith's hideout. However, one simple thing I wonder is how she might have survived had she fallen backwards, down towards the lower streets of Coruscant. Would she manage to report back to the Jedi via communicator about Dooku and Sidious? Would she even make it back to the Jedi temple?
I believe that Yaddle would fall to the streets and would attempt to return to the Jedi temple. She would be eager to warn the Jedi about the dangers to come; however, she would also be too weak to get there easily. Another sad truth though is that the majority of the Jedi, which includes the council, was on their way to Naboo for Qui Gon's funeral. I imagine her communication device would have either shattered when the door was closed on her by Dooku or just from the fall.
Sidious would be worried about Yaddle's survival. He isn't ready for his identity and hiding place to be revealed. He would ensure that Yaddle is killed before she can make it back to the temple.
Ultimately, I feel that Sidious's secret was safe. He and Dooku might have to put in extra work to find and kill Yaddle before she gets back to the temple, but I don't see her actually reaching her destination, nor do I feel that she will successfully communicate her findings with the Jedi prior to her death.
What are your thoughts?2y Star Wars Theory After Vader's defeat at the hands of Obi Wan Kenobi on Mustafar, Vader's powers have severely diminished due to his somewhat severed connection to the force. Sidious went to Mustafar and saved Vader, but locked him in a suit that instilled much pain in Vader to enhance his anger and his connection to the dark side.
Why did Sidious save Vader? It is not the way of the Sith.
I know there was always the thought that Sidious saved Vader because he figured he wouldn't find another apprentice that is even half as strong. Other people believe that his plan was to use essence transfer when Vader surpassed him in power.
I am wondering if Sidious still feared Vader's power, even when Vader was weaker and crippled.
When Maul was defeated by Obi Wan on Naboo, Sidious didn't even investigate to see if his apprentice survived. He just assumed that Maul was dead. Maul later came back into the picture and conquered the crime syndicate, potentially with the desire of overthrowing his old master.
If Sidious had left Vader to die on Mustafar, there is the possibility that Vader would have been saved by someone else, such as a Mustafarian. If Vader was saved by someone other than Sidious, it's possible that whatever suit would keep him alive would have been less painful on him. Maybe he could've been saved by a night sister, as Maul was, and "reconstructed." As such, maybe he would come back to the light, despite his desire to bring down the Emperor in vengeance. Had Vader returned to the light or even stayed in the dark, he might have found a different means of gaining power to overthrow the Dark Lord, just as Maul might have planned originally.
All hypothetical, but I have to wonder if Sidious feared what Vader could become had he been left to die, but miraculously survived.
Do you think this fear could have existed at the back of his mind?2y Star Wars Theory Star Wars Theory Star Wars Theory Star Wars Theory Let's assume the story up until this point hadn't changed. Ahsoka still left the Order. Obi Wan sneaks aboard Padme's ship to go to Mustafar. The only significant difference is that Ahsoka either sneaks aboard Padme's ship with Obi Wan, as a plea from Obi Wan to help him save Anakin, or she meets him on Mustafar, again after speaking to Obi Wan.
Vader would still force choke Padme and knock her unconscious. Obi Wan and Ahsoka would duel with Vader together, both begging him to come back from the dark, to repent for his actions. Vader would have nothing of this. Ahsoka would be on the attack against Vader, while Obi Wan would act as the shield, defending both himself and Ahsoka from Vader's lightsaber blows.
At some point, Vader will feel overwhelmed. He's duelling his master, the Jedi that trained him and therefore knows how to defend himself against Vader's blows. He's also battling his Padawan, the student that he himself taught. The only way to even the battleground is by separating his teacher and his student. When the time is right, Vader force pushes Ahsoka off a ledge to a platform below. By that time, the station on which they are duelling starts to sink into the lava. The duel continues as seen in ROTS, with Obi Wan eventually winning, and with Ahsoka realizing she can only flee. She runs back to Padme's ship to tend to the senator. Obi Wan reunites with them and they flee the planet before Darth Sidious arrives.3y Star Wars Theory Star Wars Theory In Revenge of the Sith, we see Vader with his standard blue blade. It is only when he gets his armor and goes through Sidious's trials in the comics that he kills a Jedi, takes that Jedi's saber crystal, and makes it bleed.
I have to wonder if, even as a Sith, Vader would've bled his own personal crystal had he escaped defeat at Obi Wan's hands. This implies that he didn't lose more limbs. Either Obi Wan escapes or Vader defeats him on Mustafar.
I feel that to answer this question, it would all come down to Padme. If Obi Wan managed to successfully hide Padme and the twins (or only child as Anakin never knew Padme was carrying twins), Vader would've built up his rage and eventually bled his crystal. However, if Vader was able to get close to Padme and raise his kids with her, I feel that he would never carry a red blade. I'm not saying that being with his family would turn him back to the light nor make him leave the Sith. I believe that if Vader made his blade red around Padme, it would be the ultimate slap in the face for her (since force choking her wasn't enough in this scenario). The red color would represent evil in her eyes. That would be the breaking point of their relationship.
What are your thoughts? 3y Star Wars Theory Assume that the Son was the first of the Ones to die on Mortis. A great shift towards the light would occur.
If this occurs, I would imagine that Sidious would panic, at least at first. He would sense the shift, but remain unaware of the cause. He would think that his plans, an entire millenium of plotting by the Sith, are significantly less possible to achieve. It would be far more challenging to destroy the Jedi and the democracy of the Republic. There was no contingency plan in place for such a situation.
When Anakin returns to Coruscant after his misadventure on Mortis, he would tell Palpatine all about the Ones and the planet. After Anakin leaves the Chancellor's office, Palpatine smiles sinisterly. His foiled plans, which were a great loss, have now become a very powerful opportunity.
Sidious would travel to Mortis and discover the well of the force. Never before has the Dark Lord of the Sith felt such strength. His new goal: take the place of the Son!
Upon Sidious's arrival to Mortis, he would encounter the Daughter. She would explain to Palpatine that the Force must be in balance. He would follow her ideals, for now... The daughter reveals that she knows what Sidious desires. She knows that Sidious wants the power of the dark side that Mortis has to offer. In order to claim it, however, the Daughter tells Sidious that he must pass a test: he must prove his abilities in the force to the Father and Daughter. Sidious agrees to the trial, but the results of the test remain unknown.

Would his original plans to conquer the galaxy be easier with his new strength?3y Star Wars Theory Star Wars Theory In the prequel trilogy, it was established that Anakin was the Chosen One, the person that would bring balance to the force. Anakin was aware of this role, but how much did he actually understand?
The Jedi council saw how powerful Anakin was, even as a Padawan. However, they also saw how unbalanced he was. He had great power, but as Anakin said himself to Palpatine in ROTS, he knew there were things about the force that the Jedi were not telling him about. This was likely due to Anakin's instability and the Jedi feared that teaching Anakin too much might cause their destruction. It's ironic considering that their limitations ultimately got them destroyed by Vader.
Anakin learns more about his role in the Clone Wars series when he encounters the Father, the Son, and the Daughter. The Father tells him very directly that he is the Chosen One as only the Chosen One could tame both the Son and the Daughter. However, even the Father limited Anakin's knowledge of his role. While the Son opened Anakin's eyes to his future and showed him things that, according to the Father, he should never have seen, the Father then erases those memories.
Anakin's role as the Chosen One was never really explained. All he knew was that he was to bring balance to the force. How could he do this on his own though? What powers did he have that other Jedi lacked?
I have to wonder how much more Anakin would have learned had Qui Gon trained him. Several posts have already discussed how Anakin's training would have been more balanced and efficient had Qui Gon trained him. It was expected that Anakin might have even stayed in the light under Qui Gon's teaching. I feel that Anakin would have understood his role as the Chosen One had Qui Gon trained him properly. Qui Gon was a believer in following the will of the force. He had great knowledge of prophecies. Qui Gon likely would have explained the Chosen One prophecy to Anakin in more detail. He also would've kept Anakin more balanced in the force, with Anakin not veering too much towards the light nor the dark. This would have created more stability for Anakin in the long run. I feel that this balance might also have led him to train a bit under Mace Windu as Anakin's balance would be his asset. Windu would have been more open to teaching Anakin vaapad.
How do you feel about Anakin's knowledge of the Chosen One prophecy? Do you feel that his experiences with the Jedi and the Ones limited his abilities to efficiently carry out his role? Should he have suffered as much as he did because of his unstable powers?3y Star Wars Theory How would the story play out if Padme convinced Anakin to stay on Coruscant (without bringing Anakin back to the light)?
I imagine Vader would report his desire to Sidious to stay with Padme. He would say that she's almost due to give birth and he wants to be there for the event. Sidious, displeased, will show some disdain, but will ultimately agree to go to Mustafar himself. He knows he's still in that phase that he needs to keep Vader "happy" in order to control him.
Obi Wan will go to see Padme to figure out where Anakin is, but he will find Vader there with her. Obi Wan tries to convince Vader to surrender, but to no avail. Vader tells Padme to leave so that he and Obi Wan can duke it out. Padme stays and asks her to listen to her. She wants Anakin to be there for her baby. Vader doesn't listen and yells at her to leave. She obliges. Obi Wan and Vader begin their duel in the condo while Padme leaves, concerned for both her husband and her friend. She knows one might die today, but she feels helpless. She looks back with fear and uncertainty, but has no strength to stop the fight.
Meanwhile, Yoda is on his way to the Emperor's office, only to see Sidious's ship take off. With Sidious's departure, Yoda realizes it is not yet his time to fight the Dark Lord of the Sith. Instead, he chooses to save that fight for another day. In the mean time, he senses the struggle between Obi Wan and Vader and decides to attempt to alleviate that situation.
Much like on Mustafar, Vader is strong, agile, and generally has the upper hand against his old master, but Obi Wan's defensive tactics keep Vader from delivering any serious blows. The condo Anakin once shared with his love has been destroyed. The master and apprentice continue their fight on the balcony. Obi Wan pushes Anakin off the balcony, but Vader is powerful. He uses the force to pull on Obi Wan, but Obi Wan grabs firmly to the railing of the balcony. Vader uses this time to his advantage and slingshots himself back to that balcony while Obi Wan tries to simply not be pulled down. It was the perfect distraction. The duel continues.
Yoda arrives and finds Padme. She tells the Grand Master of what is happening. Rather than join the fight, as he initially intended to do, Yoda escorts the Naboo Senator to safety.
Vader senses Yoda's presence. He feels Padme's distance growing with the Jedi Master. He fears losing Padme. As such, he delivers the strongest force push he can on Obi Wan. Obi Wan becomes incapacitated as he hits a wall in the condo. Vader pursues Padme and Yoda.
Yoda can feel Vader's darkness growing. He knows Vader is coming after Padme and that a new duel between himself and the fallen apprentice will ensue. Before that can happen, Senator Organa arrives in his speeder. He comes to help Padme get aboard. As the senators fly off, Yoda draws his lightsaber. Vader arrives and can only watch his love disappear into the sky. Yoda leaps at full speed at The Chosen One, only to be blocked. Yoda recognized this anger. It was the same hatred he sensed from Anakin on Tatooine as he struck down the Tusken Raiders. Yoda realizes this was a going to be a fight to the death.
The light of both the old master's and young apprentice's swords flicker in all directions. They are both moving at full speed to cut each other off. Both are attempting to kill the other quickly. Yoda makes one wrong jump and leaps past Vader from behind. Before Yoda can redirect himself, Vader force pushes Yoda into a nearby pillar and immediately uses the force to throw Yoda's lightsaber off the building, down into the lower abyss of Coruscant.
Vader approaches his old master and gloats "Not even the wisest and most powerful Jedi of the Order can defeat me." Yoda realizes it's his end. As Vader lifts his lightsaber for the final blow, Yoda gives one last force push to throw Vader away from him. Vader catches himself just a second before falling off the edge. Just as quickly as the dark lord catches himself, Obi Wan reappears right next to him and attempts to slash apprentice with his lightsaber. Vader had not expected this. He loses his footing and falls off the building.
Obi Wan and Yoda investigate. As they look over the edge, they see Vader rising up in a speeder. He kicks out the original pilot of the speeder, takes control of the vehicle, and flies in Padme's direction. He realized he cannot defeat Yoda and Obi Wan alone in this setting. He will pursue his love and live to fight another day.
What do you think of this scenario? What changes would you make?3y Star Wars Theory Star Wars Theory Throughout the whole Obi Wan series, we saw how obsessed Vader was to find Obi Wan Kenobi. This determination stemmed from Vader's defeat on Mustafar, where his 3/4 of his limbs were severed and he was left to burn and die. A large part of this perseverance in Vader probably also comes from his belief that Obi Wan was holding Anakin back from his full potential.
In Tales of the Jedi, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's apprentice, is revealed to have encountered and defeated an inquisitor prior to the events of Star Wars Rebels. Unlike the feelings Vader held for Obi Wan, Anakin didn't hold any hostility (to my knowledge) towards Ahsoka. He might have had some jealousy that she had the strength to leave the Order and that he didn't, but otherwise, they were practically siblings.
In Rebels, we see that the cold and collected Vader is in pursuit of the rebel fleet (and Ahsoka), but he did not display the same obsession for Ahsoka that he had for Obi Wan. Part of me has to wonder if, in Rebels, Vader truly wanted to kill Ahsoka the same way that he wanted to kill Obi Wan and other Jedi. Part of me also has to ask if Vader would have been more of his monstrous, self-destructive person had the inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi survived and reported Ahsoka's survival to Vader. Tales of the Jedi was set far earlier in the timeline than Rebels and the Obi Wan series. Vader was still in a phase when he was rampaging as a Sith, rather than being the calm and cool Vader that we all know and love.
