Aurra Sing, also called Nashtah, was once a female Jedi Padawan but, after a series of tragedies and misfortunes, left the Jedi Order to become a bounty hunter specializing in assassinating Jedi and politicians. She soon became associated with Cad Bane and was a commander of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars and later an Imperial agent under the Sith Lord Darth Vader. During the second Galactic Civil War, Sing was hired to kill the Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo and the Chume'da Allana, only to be struck down by the latter. Her office lasted seven decades, from at least 36 BBY to 40 ABY.

Aurra Sing was born in the suburbs of Nar Shaddaa to a substance-addicted mother named Aunuanna and a father she never knew. It is also rumored that she was once owned by Sennex slavers. She was brought into the Jedi Order as a candidate for Jedi training. In an attempt to control the young woman's overtly aggressive instincts, she was apprenticed to the Dark Lady, the same enigmatic Jedi who had taken the young Ki-Adi-Mundi under her tutelage. Because she had a history of training difficult apprentices with it, the Jedi Council expected her to overcome her natural aggressiveness. However, the two do not get along and Sing failed and she left the Jedi Order before she was past the Padawan stage. She once on her own became a fierce bounty hunter, specializing in tracking down and destroying Jedi Knights.

Around the age of nine, she was kidnapped by pirates, who played on her deep-seated fears of abandonment and betrayal to shake her trust in the Jedi. She raised the conflicted young woman as a fellow pirate. Tragedy struck again when she was eventually captured by the Hutt Wallanooga crime lord, who in turn lent her to a group of Anzati assassins. The Anzati trained her to be a ruthless assassin, even equipping her with bio-gear that gave her more sensory data. Her training was paid for by the Hutt crime family Lord Urdruua, something that put her family for a generation in debt.

She was a great bounty hunter known as one of the most powerful and ruthless in the galaxy. She had a great hatred for the Jedi, believing that she had abandoned him. Because of this she was an angry and hurt individual and Aayla Secura took advantage of this by taunting her for abandoning the Jedi order, allowing him to defeat her even though she was good at long range shots. Sing had no qualms about committing murder and killed clone commander Ponds without a second thought. During her youth, she was also noted to be very aggressive, and thus, the Jedi Council placed her under An'ya Kuro's instruction. She used Form I lightsaber fighting. However, Aurra hated Kuro, possibly because she was brutal and to some, she had disturbing training methods and she quickly believed that the Jedi Master had abandoned her when she was captured by pirates and so she turned to the dark side of Kuro. she. She had good aim with throwing the thermal detonators that she preferred to use over lightsabers.

However, despite her cruelty, Sing was also something of a mother to Boba Fett during his teenage years, sometimes addressing him as "honey" and preventing him from drinking alcohol at Hondo Ohnaka's bar. She however, is also very selfish and abandoned Fett to save herself after the boy was captured by Plo Koon. She also tried to get the boy to kill the defenseless Ponds, and when he hesitated, she simply pushed him aside and killed him herself. Aurra Sing also had a romantic relationship with Hondo Ohnaka, and although they were no longer lovers by the time of the mission, Ohnaka still referred to her as "my darling". Ohnaka however, refused to help Sing when she tried to lure Ahsoka Tano and Plo Koon into a trap.

Sing's biological heritage was secretly revealed. Her mother was human, but her father was from an unknown species with a long lifespan. Rumors abound as to the species of her father. It is possible that he was Rattataki, due to his bald white skin. Another theory is that he was Qiraash, because they also have white skin, as well as a natural level of precognition. Another possibility is that his father was Umbaran, who share similar traits to the Rattataki but have pronounced sunken eyes as well, not to mention that Sing called his father "a ghost in the night" and the Umbaran species originated from the Spirit Nebula. Some even speculate that he may have been Antazi.

She inherited some physical traits from her father, such as her fair skin, dark and sunken eye sockets, and fingers nearly twice the length of the standard human hand. Another trait that seemed to come from her father was a very strange metabolism that often forced her to eat food, which is essentially made up of drinking blood drained from raw meat. She also inherited longevity from her, her lifespan far exceeding that of a normal human. At the time of the Second Galactic Civil War, she was at least ninety years old, though she looked no older than she had during the Clone Wars, sixty years earlier.
