EXPANDED CHAT RULES
1. Please don’t chat scam, spam, or joke links of any kind. It’s just not cool, or funny.
2. Please don’t advertise your post or promote yourself in the chat. The BBS system is designed so Partnered users can advertise competitively and contribute to the potential earnings of quality publishers. See the advertising section in your profile to learn more.
3. SWT.com is a PG-13 site. No foul language or hate speech of any kind is to be used in the chat. Offensive language of any type is unacceptable here. Language of any kind that may make others uncomfortable will not be tolerated.
4. No harassment or trolling of other users or site moderators. It doesn’t matter what you think… if someone thinks you are harassing, or trolling them you probably are. There is a report system in place for users in cases like this instead of making a public display or fighting. Users can also reach out via DM to any mod for any issue they have especially if they are feeling bullied.
5. Please do not spam words or use ALL CAPS in the chat. Spamming words is just annoying to everyone but the spammer. The use of ALL CAPS when writing implies that you are shouting and is considered very rude in adult society and will not be tolerated in the chat.
6. Please do not loiter in the chat. The chat is not a hang out. It’s a place for all site users who are coming and going to casually talk about Star Wars, and connect with each other.
7. Please do not make requests to be Partnered (previously whitelisted) in the chat.
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
The goal of StarWarsTheory.com is to cultivate a friendly community of Star Wars fans that wish to engage in meaningful discussion with others, exclusively about the intellectual property known as Star Wars, within the context of the BBS bulletin board system. Users of this site should be 1. seeking to view quality content and comment on it 2. seeking to publish high quality content intended to inspire users to engage in meaningful discussion in the comment section about subjects like, but not limited to, content breakdowns, fan fictions, book reviews, fan films, content reviews, animations, collectibles, comic reviews, and video game reviews. This content is listed on the main site banner. Other Star Wars topics are acceptable as long as they adhere to the guidelines.
The Chat rules are also to be considered conduct rules for comments and all published content.
1. Posts must be about Star Wars
2. Posts and comments must be in English
3. Do not repost moderation content or post about mod actions
4. Do not use Site imagery, Theory’s logo, or the BBS logo in your posts
5. No advertising unless it’s using the BBS ad campaign system
6. Do not copy/repost other’s posts
7. Do not create posts asking to be Partnered
8. No meme posts of any kind (save your memes for comments 😉)
9. No posts created using website templates (including AI created content)
10. To be considered Original Content, Art must be created entirely by the publisher
11. News/article/video posts must include some comments by the publisher and credit the original creator to be considered Original Content⭐️. Otherwise sharing Star Wars stuff you like/found with the Community is acceptable and falls under the Community 🔵 flair
EXPANDED CONTENT GUIDELINES
‼️Memes posts of any kind are not permitted.‼️ (use your memes in the comments 👍)
❕ Posts composed around a poll need to have some elaboration on the poll question, or commentary from the publisher, to be considered Original Content ⭐️. Otherwise poll posts fall under the Community flair
⭐️ Original Content “OC” (yellow) - The content within the post that the community will be reacting to is created solely by you, the publisher. (Using copy/pasted content to support or illustrate your content is fine.) Original Content ⭐️ is the content most desired by this community and the only content type that will earn a user Partnership (see below). Original Content includes but isn’t limited to subjects like Theories, Speculation, Fan fictions, publisher created art, publisher created videos, content or game reviews, and generally all editorial posts. If you have other areas of Star Wars interest 🙏 feel free to share them with the community.
‼️ Any type of Star Wars post will be considered OC ⭐️ if it has a minimum amount of publisher created content (from your brain) and has community engagement as the goal. (getting people to react/respond with comments) A minimum of a paragraph (3/4 sentences) is necessary to convey your thoughts effectively and in a way that gives users enough content to respond to.
✏️ Fan Fics / What ifs…? (ochre yellow) A separate category for the numerous works of fiction. Considered Original Content and rewardable if Partnered through CPM bonuses based on their engagement. Please note: non-partnered users will not be compensated for their fan fics with cashable tips because ff’s historically don’t inspire engagement from the community. However, because it is content solely created by the BBS publisher it will be considered for Partnership.
⚠️Linked News or Video (green)- Linked articles and videos must be credited to the original source. Linked content will not be considered Original Content unless it contains the required amount of BBS publisher created content (see Original Content🤔 for info).
🌎 Community (blue)- Simple questions for the community, talk about Theory/Nerd Theory, any found content shared with the community w/out the needed content to be OC⭐️, and any announcement posts. As all content, Community posts must be Star Wars oriented
🧠 Moderation (pink)- Information/update posts from the site Admins or user questions/suggestions for the Admins.
❄️ Credited Fan Art (light blue)- Fan art is allowed, the original artist must be credited. (Shared art and other content can be considered OC⭐️ if it has the required amount of BBS publisher created content. 🤔)
🚨 Spoilers (red)- Posts that may spoil new content for users. Once the spoiler period is over (generally 24 hours post release) publishers may edit the assigned Flair of spoiler posts to Original Content.
💰Publisher compensation/earnings:
Partnership: Becoming a Partner (of the board Owner) means you have been recognized as being in the top tier of contributors to the board in both published Original Content and engagement in other user’s content. When a user becomes a Partner they then have the ability to earn cashable ad revenue from the engagement generated by their posts through automated CPM bonuses on all their published posts, forever. Until you become a Partner any ad revenue generated by your posts goes into the board’s Community funds and will be used to fund the tipping pool and contest prizes like Post of the Week.
That being said it’s not difficult to become a Partner, it just takes a little consistency with publishing OC⭐️ posts and genuine engagement with the community. An OC post or two for “X” amount of weeks… “X” - depending on post quality is really all we’re looking for. 🤔
It should also be mentioned that if a Partner’s content drifts away from Original Content, ceases publishing altogether, or their engagement on the board dramatically slows, or stops, their partnership can be revoked.
👀Non-Partners: All non-partnered publishers of OC⭐️ posts will now be compensated with a cashable tip through a Supercomment from the Community Admins. The amount of the tip will be subjective and based on the content, engagement generated by, and quality of the post.
Cashable earnings can be used to tip other publishers and can be converted to BBS tokens. There will absolutely be more ways to spend your earnings coming soon so get posting!
