Ssi-ruuvi battle droids are small drone ships powered by the enteched life forces of captured prisoners. The space droids are pyramid-shaped & roughly two meters across, making them significantly smaller than any starfighter in Imperial space. Since only the life essence of a being is trapped in the fighters, there is no need for a cockpit or life support system. These droids are the main assault fighters of the Ssi-ruuvi fleet. The ship known as the Shriwirr carried five hundred battle droids, while each Wurrif-class cruiser carried two hundred droids. Their high speed, maneuverability, & small target area make them deadly in combat. They have shields as heavy as those of many starfighters & can take an incredible amount of punishment relative to their size. A battle droid's interior contains power generators for the weapons & shields, battery coils to house the enteched life forces (two per droid), the sensor system, & the drive unit. The droids are powered by heavy fusionables, making them more primitive than Imperial ships. The ships leave a significant radiation trail & are easily tracked by sensors. Radioactive remnants from destroyed Ssi-ruuvi battle droids can, in sufficient quantities, overwhelm even capital ship shields. Ssi-ruuvi battle droids achieve their maneuverability by mounting a separate engine thruster on each side of the fighter. Each thruster can be angled independently, allowing for turns & maneuvers that far exceed the capabilities of Imperial or Rebel starfighters. 

Around each thruster is a sophisticated sensor array, supplemented by a sensor antenna on each corner of the ship. The sensor data are used for targeting & also are the fed back to the commanding Ssi-ruuvi cruiser. Thus, the Ssi-ruuk can make informed decisions at every stage of the battle, & subspace communication systems allow for instant changes of strategy regardless of distance. The faces of the battle droids have what appear to be etchings: they are in fact microfilament grids which can capture part of the energy of incoming blasts & siphon that energy back into the battle droid's main generator. Ssi-ruuvi battle droids have a laser cannon placed on each corner of the vessel. The cannons have 360-degree rotation, giving them a wide field of fire. The life forces trapped within the battle droid find it difficult to target more than one fighter at a time, but the rotating laser cannons allow the battle droids the flexibility to fire in any direction, even directly behind the ship. Battle droids are remotely controlled by Ssi-ruuvi command cruisers. The cruiser's droid operators deliver instructions, forcing the trapped life energies to obey commands. One life force handles the shield generators, while the other takes care of the sensors, flight control, & weaponry. Using the Force, Luke Skywalker proved that the life forces still retained a will of their own & in essence we're trapped in torment until such time as their energies had been exhausted.
