Merry Sithmas everyone! I hope everyone is having a great start to their Christmas celebrations. Today we will be discussing how the Sequal Trilogy can be fixed. It has had a lot of scrutiny over the past 7 years, and there are many fans who hate it, but also some who love it. I am a mixed bag. I loved TFA, hated TLJ, and didn't mind TRoS. Feel free to leave your opinions in the comments in terms of your fixes, and whether or not you agree with my points.
How Episode 10 Could Fix The ST
Rey can finally earn her Skywalker name

Arguably the biggest mistake of Rey's story came with who the team at Lucasfilm made her. Outside of what certain groups think about whether Rey should be a Skywalker, a Palpatine, or a nobody, the lack of clarity and constant changing of Rey's heritage was the most frustrating aspect of her character in the sequels. With Rey having the name Skywalker going into Star Wars 10 though, this mistake can be fixed. With the issue of her parentage out of the way and her full acceptance of the name Rey Skywalker, Star Wars 10 can focus less on where Rey comes from and focus instead on where her future lies. By embracing the Skywalker name by connecting with Force ghosts like Luke, Anakin, and Ben Solo (Anakin's grandson) to help her build a new Jedi Order, Rey can solidify herself as a Skywalker once and for all.
Finn becomes a Jedi

The concept of a Stormtrooper-turned-Jedi was extremely exciting for many (including myself) when the first trailers for The Force Awakens were released. This concept, despite not coming out exactly as hoped in the sequel trilogy, could be fixed in Star Wars 10. With TRoS hinting, yet still being frustratingly unclear, at Finn's Force connection, Star Wars 10 could build on this by having Rey train Finn in her new Jedi Order. By having Boyega and Ridley be the co-leads of the next Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm could kill two birds with one stone. Not only would the criminal wasting of John Boyega in the sequel trilogy be rectified, but Finn's full transition from a First Order trooper to a fully-fledged Jedi could be complete alongside Rey Skywalker.
Poe Continues Leia's Legacy

One of the best parts of TLJ was seeing Poe take over. With Star Wars 10, Poe's future could follow from TLJ and fix the sequel's mistake by making him integral to the story and the galaxy. As Poe's story in TLJ revolved around Leia grooming him to eventually lead the Resistance, Star Wars 10 could show him as the leader of the galaxy's new military of a reformed Republic that he helped build. This would not only continue the aspects of Poe's character that worked exceptionally well in action sequences (his flying abilities and charismatic personality) but also make him much more important than in the sequels and continue Leia's legacy through him.
How the TV Shows Can Fix The ST
How Shows Are Already Helping The Sequels

From its very first episode, The Mandalorian shows us that there are still groups of stormtroopers in the galaxy, unwilling to give up their old ways or even their armour. This lays down the groundwork for how the First Order appears at the beginning of TFA with new battalions of stormtroopers. This major part of the story is never properly explained in the sequel movies. The Mandalorian also explains beskar, the metal alloy used to make Din Djarin’s Mandalorian armour, with the ability to deflect blaster bolts. This gives the potential to give backstory to the First Order’s Captain Phasma, who wears similarly shiny armour which can also deflect blaster bolts — this would be a minor retcon because Phasma’s armour is canonically made from a different metal, but it would be a logical and believable change to make.
How A Well-Made Show Can Save The Sequels

A Star Wars show set between the events of TLJ and TRoS could do wonders for the characters, and fit enough into the story to make the ST actually make sense. A difficult task, perhaps, especially with how much crap the ST has copped over the past few years, but certainly not an impossible one. The big problem is, of course, that a show like this would need to be carefully planned and well-written, balancing a good plot with Star Wars canon connections. Writing, in particular, is key, as demonstrated by the fact that Rebels has failed to fully emerge from the shadow of Clone Wars’ earlier success.
Thanks again for reading. As always, like, follow, and leave your opinions on how the ST can be fixed in the comments. Have a great Christmas season and as always, MTFBWT.
