Hey everyone. I wish I could post more on the forums, but life likes to take up most of our time. After the latest TBB episode though, I was compelled to come back here and talk about it. Initially I planned to post this earlier but I’m glad I finally got around to it. I was so blown away with how well written this episode was. It definitely exceeded my expectations and had a very steady pace throughout. Seeing the clones being treated so poorly is a gut wrenching reality that materializes in TBB, and this episode exposes that reality in its entirety. Dave Filoni is a master at introducing characters we can get attached to with exceptional development and later kill them off to further impact the revolving characters and plot. Commander Mayday is a prime example of this. Dave knows clones are fan favorites, so it’s easy to use them as leverage to make the audience hurt. He’s become very proficient with that as we’ve seen. I think having Mayday save Crosshair twice really opened his eyes to the fact that these are his brothers and that there’s more to life than being a soldier following orders. It’s an awakening of humanity. It took a newfound friend dying for Crosshair to finally see how ruthless the empire is, and how EVERYONE in their ranks is expendable, besides Palps and Vader of course. He brought Mayday all that way in hopes of having him restored to good health just to have the empire deny his request. This was his breaking point. Crosshair finally snapped. He was done being a pawn for the empire. Dave even uses the bird to symbolize freedom as Crosshair stares at the sky. He wanted to be free from the empire’s clutches. They don’t care about him, and he knows this now. The lieutenant finally got what he deserved with that cold blooded death. Crosshair has had exceptional development this season and I can’t wait to see what they do with his character going forward. I’ll be sure to make more posts on the more recent episodes! Thanks for reading and May the force be with you, always.
