Version 4.1.1 - Anonymous Contributions
Version 4.1.1 has been released!
Version 4.1.1 brings us the Anonymous Contributions feature, allowing unregistered users to submit anonymous posts & comments for board approval. This addition should help boards drive new discussions, increase engagement, and give a voice to those who prefer to remain anonymous.
Unregistered users with BBS Network may submit new posts to be displayed with board approval - however are given some limitations on what they can submit.
When posting anonymously, the ability to add an image or video to the post will be unavailable. Only registered users are able to upload images or videos alongside their posts.
Posts submitted anonymously will not be visible on the board until approved by the board moderators.
Similarly, unregistered users may now submit comments to be displayed with board approval.
All comments submitted anonymously, as well as posts, will show up under the username “anonymous” for all boards.
Any comment submitted must be approved by board moderators before becoming visible.
In order to manage these anonymous submissions, two new menus have been added to a board’s drop-down menu.
Pending anonymous posts and comments will be shown in their respective menus, where moderators are able to delete or approve submissions.
With these menus, moderators are able to quickly handle anonymous contributions to their board. In order to view pending submissions, moderators must have the “Content Moderation” permission enabled in their Admin Settings.
We’re excited to see how this new feature will be utilized, and hope that it encourages new user engagement and further discussion on boards.
Let us know what you think about these new features and how they’re used on boards, as we gather feedback we push towards our next big feature: Video/Audio Responses!
