A legendary Wookiee warrior and Han Solo's co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon, Chewbacca is part of a core of rebels restoring freedom to the galaxy. Early life
Chewbacca was a Wookiee raised and educated on Kashyyyk, a peaceful planet on which he was born one hundred and eighty years before the Clone Wars. In time, Chewbacca became a warrior, marrying a Wookiee named Malla, with whom he raised a family to support. clone wars
During the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems known as the Clone Wars, Chewbacca was captured by a Trandoshan hunting guild led by Garnak, who brought him to an island in Wasskah to become his prey. However, the transport he was riding in was attacked by a trio of Jedi trainees — Padawan Ahsoka Tano and Jedi Initiates Jinx and O-Mer, who were also prey to the Trandoshans.
Chewbacca escaped from the wreckage of the transport and followed the trio, with whom he communicated thanks to Ahsoka's understanding of Shyriiwook, to his hideout. Using his skills in technology, Chewbacca used parts of the destroyed transport to build a transmitter with which he could contact the Wookiees on Kashyyyk. However, the transmitter seemed to not work, and an impatient Jinx, supported by O-Mer, decided to steal a vehicle from the Trandoshans and use it to reach his base. Persuaded by Ahsoka, Chewbacca joined them in the assault on the Trandoshan base, where they were joined by several Wookiees led by General Tarfful—who had received Chewbacca's transmission—as well as bounty hunters Sugi and Seripas. When all the Trandoshans were dead, Chewbacca and the Wookiees accompanied the young Jedi to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
During the final days of the war, Chewbacca played an essential role in the Battle of Kashyyyk, overseeing the confrontation between the Grand Army of the Republic and the invading Confederate Navy alongside Tarfful and Jedi General Yoda, as well as Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. . Following the execution of Order 66, Chewbacca and Tarfful witnessed the attempted assassination of Master Yoda by Clone Commander Gree and another clone trooper. Chewbacca helped Yoda elude clone troopers and escape the planet.
Rise of the Empire
Following the reorganization of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, Chewbacca saw his people enslaved, working as miners on planets such as Kessel, or used for scientific experiments. At some point, Chewbacca and other Wookiees were captured and enslaved by Trandoshan slavers. Chewbacca was enslaved, working cutting down wroshyr trees to supply the Imperial Army. Chewbacca was freed by Han Solo, to whom he swore a life debt. At first he thought Solo was a "loudmouthed, cocky and even arrogant" man, but the Corellian proved him wrong when they both headed to the Outer Rim to survive amongst bounty hunters, pirates and smugglers; trying to make a living working for the Hutts. Chewbacca eventually became Solo's co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon, the YT-1300 light freighter that Han Solo beat Lando Calrissian in a game of sabacc.
Galactic Civil War
During one of their smuggling attempts during the Galactic Civil War, the Millennium Falcon was boarded and Chewbacca and Han Solo lost the Jabba the Hutt cargo they were transporting. The two were at Chalmun's Cantina on Tatooine when Obi-Wan Kenobi approached Chewbacca seeking transport for himself, Luke Skywalker, and the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO to Alderaan. Promising two thousand credits in advance and fifteen thousand more upon arrival on Alderaan, Han Solo and Chewbacca accepted their new job, escaping from the Imperial ships by leaving Tatooine.
During their journey through hyperspace, Kenobi trained Skywalker in the use of the Force, and Chewbacca played dejaik with R2-D2, who made a move that Chewbacca did not like despite being fair, and Solo advised him not to enrage. to the Wookiee, since his kind tended to rip arms off droids.
As the Falcon exited hyperspace, the group found themselves in an asteroid field caused by the destruction of Alderaan, and were caught by a tractor beam from the Death Star. The group avoided capture by hiding in the Falcon's hidden compartments; and as Kenobi went to deactivate the tractor beam to escape, Skywalker received information from R2-D2 that Princess Leia Organa was being held prisoner on the Death Star, about to be executed. They staged a rescue, with Chewbacca posing as a prisoner of Skywalker and Solo disguised as stormtroopers. Despite some setbacks, Chewbacca and the others managed to escape the Death Star — except for Kenobi, who was killed in a duel with Darth Vader. The Falcon soon reached Yavin 4, landing at a secret Rebel Alliance base as the Death Star approached the moon.
Luke Skywalker was confident that Chewbacca and Han Solo would join the Rebel Alliance, but Solo was more focused on collecting his bounty to pay off his debt to Jabba the Hutt. Although Chewbacca was dissatisfied with Solo's course of action, the two left, apparently abandoning the Rebel Alliance before the Death Star. However, they returned in time to protect Skywalker during the Battle of Yavin from Darth Vader's TIE Advanced x1, allowing the young pilot to destroy the massive space station by firing a proton torpedo at its exit port.
Back on Yavin 4, Skywalker and Solo were presented with medals by Leia Organa, while Chewbacca grunted in satisfaction during the ceremony. Following the celebration, Organa asked the rebels to observe a moment of silence to honor and remember those who had died when Alderaan was destroyed; and General Dodonna announced the need to evacuate Yavin since the Galactic Empire knew of its location. Chewbacca also received a medal, and shared a moment of banter between Organa and Solo, shortly before they parted ways.
However, before they could leave for Tatooine to pay Jabba, Leia Organa asked Han Solo to run an errand for the Rebel Alliance, which Chewbacca convinced him to agree to — rescue Lieutenant Caluan Ematt on Cyrkon. In the Millennium Falcon, the two made their way to the planet, where they were confronted by an enemy ship, which they evaded with a fake transponder, and landed on Motok. There, they were immediately attacked by some of Jabba's bounty hunters, prompting Solo to accuse them of being "rogues" and turn Imperial Commander Alecia Beck's detachment against them.
Chewbacca led Solo to a saloon, where they found his old friend Delia Leighton, who was asked for Ematt's location. After she gave them her location and password, Chewbacca and Solo rented a car and headed to a hotel, where they found Ematt, but were attacked again by bounty hunters as soon as Leighton revealed her whereabouts to save Ematt's life. Curtis. However, they all made their way to the Millennium Falcon, where they were ambushed by Beck and over forty stormtroopers.
Forced to surrender, Chewbacca, Solo and Ematt were captured, with Beck focusing on Ematt and leaving Chewbacca and Solo with the stormtroopers. Unbeknownst to the Imperials, Solo noted that a ship was coming to rescue them, but their arrival would be useless if the magnetic field was still activated. Realizing Solo's intentions, Chewbacca pretended to be angry with him and pushed him away, throwing him into a stormtrooper to take his gun and fire at the field's generators. Consequently, the hangar was also filled with toxic gas. The ship that came to his rescue opened fire on the Imperials, and Chewbacca entered the Millennium Falcon and started it up while Solo assisted Ematt and retrieved the weapons from him.
In Cyrkon's orbit, they found themselves facing an Imperial starship and eight TIE fighters. After destroying several TIEs, their allied ship was damaged. Chewbacca saw the noble side of Solo when he decided to cover the allied ship just as he activated his tractor beam. They resisted the tractor beam as it entered the planet's atmosphere, and as Leighton fled in her damaged ship, they closed in on Motok, challenging Beck to capture the Millennium Falcon at the price of destroying the city. As Beck desisted, the Falcon began to plummet to the ground and the two pilots manually restarted the engines, just in time to avoid colliding with the city and escape.
