15 STAR WARS Spin-Offs Disney NEEDS to Make!! – Star Wars Explained
With Solo: A Star Wars Story fresh in our minds, now seems a good time to do a rundown of what Star Wars spin off movies we’d like to see.
There’s no particular order of importance in today’s video countdown, they are pretty much mentioned at random. I know you guys have differing opinions on what you’d like to see, so doing the list in order of importance makes no sense. Anyway. here we go my Jedi and Sith friends. let’s DEW IT!
DON’T FORGET TO DO THE POLL AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE!
Obviously, more than any spin off I would ever want to see, I’d like to see an Obi-Wan movie. I want it to cover his time between episode 3 and episode 4, where he’s haunted by what Anakin did and what he did to Anakin. I can’t imagine the kind of stress and nightmares he must have had in that desert from seeing Anakin’s face burst into flames along with the rest of his limbless body. There’s tons of depth we can see there with Obi that I think would be really different and show us such a deep side to his character as he battles emotionally with his mental wounds. In the comics, he would watch over Luke day and night and would try to hide his force presence from people in Mos Eisley and the rest of Tatooine. He’d make friends with the Jawas and fight the Sand People just to stay in shape. I really want to know more about that big gap and of course, to see Darth Maul return as he did in Rebels.
This one’s pretty interesting to me. I want to see him train as a Padawan and become the respected Jedi Master he was. I want to see his relationship with Yoda as he learns from him. I want to see his side of why he left the Jedi order, which we already know was because of their obsession with politics and overall dogmatic view about the force, however to see it on screen as a young Christopher Lee lookalike would be really cool. I want to see him meet Qui-Gon Jinn and train him in the ways of the Force, which leads us to our next spin off.
I want to see him trained by Count Dooku, but most of all I want to see him meet Obi-Wan and train him. I think there’s such a massive gap there before The Phantom Menace that Disney, if you’re watching this, you guys can literally create an amazing story and world just like you’re already doing in the Star Wars comics before episode 1. In legends, Qui-Gon actually has a love of his own named Tahl, and when she dies, he is so close to turning to the dark side but refrains at the last second, but it ends up eating him up inside for days to come until he eventually snaps out of it. Qui-Gon wasn’t on the council and I want to see his reasons for it on screen. Plus, what his Force powers are like considering he has a green lightsaber which means he’s strong in the force.
Now I know what many are thinking…we have like 6 episodes of Anakin. Well no, we don’t have Anakin after the phantom menace up until episode 2. Where him and Obi-Wan have to go on so many different missions together across the galaxy, I want to see Anakin learn to use the force for the first time, I want to see him build his first lightsaber like we did in the old comics. I want to see how he battles between knowing what the dark and light is as in the books he even lit an opponent on fire just by becoming extremely angry. Mind you that’s legends but it’s still cool and the possibilities are endless.
This goes without saying along with Kenobi. I really want to see Maul not just after The Phantom Menace, but before it. Maul was my favourite new characters when episode 1 came out. I think his life as he trained to become a Sith would be absolutely amazing to see. Him meeting Palpatine, him being tortured by him and trained to become the ruthless killing machine he ended up being. How he built his double bladed lightsaber in canon this time. And everything else we don’t know about him yet. The canon comics covering him are pretty cool, but to see him on screen is just such a menacing and powerful thing, I can’t explain it but it’s something that I think would be cool to see.
Now this is already in the works apparently. And it’s going to be directed by the same man who directed Logan which was super gritty and dark. I think knowing about Boba’s backstory after Attack of the Clones leading up to him being hired and meeting Vader would be something super cool as well. Seeing the two maybe as a duo or team would be sweet. Not to mention seeing Slave 1 again would be epic. I think Daniel Logan who was the young Boba we saw in episode 2 should reprise his role now as an adult.
For me this is like seeing a Magneto movie or something. Palpatine was the most powerful Sith, if not at least one of of all time. I want to see him grow up in his extremely rich home with his well off parents and how he felt the dark side course through his veins at a young age. I want to see him kill his father as he did in the book and to meet Plagueis, his master, for the first time and to be trained by him in the ways of the Force. I want to see his side of how he meets Maul, and what he thought of yoda and all the Jedi there. We could even see Anakin again, albeit a young 9 year old one. I think a Palpatine back story is something we really need, and they could maybe end it the way they did in the plagueis book, where Maul dies, he kills his master, and gets elected as Supreme Chancellor, all while manipulating Dooku ever so slightly to turn to his side.
Many might say “well we got Vader’s story for 6 episodes”, but no, we didn’t. We got young Anakin from 1-3, then it was all about Luke from 4-6. We haven’t dived into Vader much at all. Now if you don’t know, I’m trying to make a Vader fan-film, extremely high budget, minimum 40 minutes long, where he goes to Naboo and fights Mace Windu at Padme’s tomb. Anyways, that’s just my story, however in canon, Disney has already done a lot with the comics. Vader fights Jedi after order 66, he fights clones, makes his lightsaber crystal bleed red, kills Jocasta Nu, trains the Inquisitors and so much more that we’re waiting to see. Vader’s castle needs to be covered as well. We need to see Vader’s mental struggle with his new life, body, and powers. His pain of losing Padme and all that he has done. Letting go of the dreams young Anakin had as a boy to become a Jedi and now the new role he must play in the galaxy. There’s so much to be covered for his story that the potential for more Vader movies is strong in the force.
The Old Republic
I’m not picky here, just choose someone, Disney, anyone from this timeline ties in together with the rest at some point in some way… so just pick one and make this timeline happen!
I’d really want to see this. We got a taste of it in The Clone Wars and Rebels TV shows. However, to see this on screen would be something truly special. I want to see the brotherhood between the clones, I want to see them battle alongside the Jedi of so many operations and missions, which would be cool because then we get to see the Jedi come in the picture as well in cameos. Imagine we see them fight alongside Anakin and Obi-Wan for just a few minutes or something. That’d be amazing to see. Having each other’s backs on the field, fighting against droids or whoever as they’re being closed in on and then the clones just appear like they did in episode 2 on Geonosis and fight along with them. Man that’d be something to see. And of course…I want to see them turn against the Jedi during Order 66, and their missions with Anakin in the Jedi Temple. That’d be dark, but it’d be interesting to see everything as episode 3 skipped over that part a lot.
How could I leave Yoda out of this one? He needs like his own trilogy or something because he has lived for so long. At 900 years of life, there’s literally an endless possibility of stories to cover. Him learning to use the force. His species. His family. Did he ever has a wife or something? Was he always good, or did he battle with the dark side for many years until he changed his ways? How did he become the grand master of all the Jedi Masters? I want to see him train Mace Windu. Train Count Dooku and see the temple grow into what it became. There’s tons of story to cover for him just as they’ve done in the canon comics to a greater degree. In the comics, Yoda goes to a mysterious planet to learn from a strange boy in a lively cave and expand his knowledge of the Force, to feel it flow through him. There’s tons to cover for him.
Mace is definitely a story I’d like to see on screen. I want to see how he surpassed even the Jedi Masters when he was just 14. How did he get his purple lightsaber in canon? How did he train with Yoda? What was it that made him so powerful in the Force and how did he control his dark side that he so strongly had growing inside? Or they could even bring him back showing his life after he was thrown from the window in episode 3 by Palpatine. What did he have to go through? Did he catch onto a speeder or survive in some way we don’t know of? Samuel L Jackson has said that he would love to reprise his role and George Lucas confirmed that Mace is alive somewhere. However, we don’t know for sure now in the new canon timeline. Mace meeting Anakin is another scene I’d like to see. His private conversations about the boy with Master Yoda and how he learnt shatter point and Vaapad are all things I’d like to see.
There’s not much to say about this, but I’d like to see how Dooku approached him and told him that they’d like to make him the template for an army of clones. We could even follow his younger years as he becomes the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.
A film about Ahsoka would be interesting as we could cover her time with Anakin, or even what she did all those years between The Clone Wars and Rebels timeline. There’s a lot of story to cover there that we don’t know about.
I’d really like to see this film on screen in live action. To be able to see him on his home planet Kaleesh and to watch his transformation into the cyborg we all know today, as the leader of the droid army, would be really interesting. Palpatine had his ship shot down on purpose so that they could save his life only by testing the limits of his body, seeing how far they could take it into cybernetic territory while still being organic to an extent. To show us that side of the war, all the droids and his fight with all the Jedi that he killed, including how he had his lungs crushed by Mace Windu. To show Dooku training him in the ways of the Jedi arts would open up more of a path to Dooku’s story at that time after his turn to the dark side as well.
So there we have it, 15 spin off films I really want to see happen. If you agree, hit like and comment on the Star Wars Theory YouTube channel and let us know what spin off you want to see, or if I missed any that you care about. I hope Disney sees this video so maybe tweet it to them or something. We control what we want to see, remember that. Have an awesome day everyone, until the next episode of Star Wars theory, remember, my fellow Jedi and Sith friends, may the Force will be with you, always!
