George Lucas Spotted in Belfast Scouting for Filming Locations?
Today’s video is kind of a combination of speculation mixed in with reality. Unlike a lot of other sources on the internet, I’m not for one moment claiming this story to be a nailed on fact, though I do think there is more chance that it is true than not. I’ll explain why.
The word has been for a long while now that Obi-Wan Kenobi movie may be directed by Stephen Daldry, with the movie’s code name being named after the Joshua Tree Park in California – which itself connects with the desert scene originally shot in 1977 for Obi-Wan. But I digress. this is old news. Just keeping you up to speed.
According to Northern Irish Newspaper, The Belfast Telegraph, George Lucas was spotted just before last Christmas checking out various locations in the local area. Things were low key and locals assumed he was there on vacation. Then later, so the newspaper claims, “local officials” (whatever they are) made it known that Lucas was in fact visiting Belfast for the purposes of scouting possible filming locations for the new Obi-Wan movie. Subsequently, Mr Lucas was photographed at an upmarket restaurant , which when later posted, kicked off all the speculation online. The things get slightly complicated from there with the end of the story being that Lucas was given a guided tour of Paint Hall Studios.
