Why Obi-Wan Wasn’t in The Last Jedi (Answered by Rian Johnson) – Star Wars Explained
What’s happening guys? With Christmas and New Year’s over with, I suppose everyone is back to work, school, university, college etc etc. I know, it sucks, but hopefully today’s Star Wars Theory video will cheer you up a bit. there’s also the new Darth Vader coming out tomorrow which I’ll make a video for. I know you guys like those.
In today’s video, I’ll go through why I think Obi-Wan Kenobi’s force ghost was left out of The Last Jedi by director, Rian Johnson.
In a recent Q and A interview with the director, he had the following to say:
“When I was thinking about what Luke’s arc is going to be and realised that someone coming back and kicking his butt would be his final beat on the island, Yoda just made the most sense”.
He then goes on to expand:
“If we had brought Ewan in, it would have been fun, but Mark as Luke has never had a relationship with the Ewan version of Obi-Wan”.
That certainly makes a lot of sense in my view, but you can learn more of my thoughts as to why I think Obi-Wan Kenobi was left out of the movie in the video below.
