Snoke’s Massive Connection to Palpatine and Plagueis (SPOILERS) – Star Wars The Last Jedi Explained
Having received some leaked images from The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary a couple of weeks back, I kept them to myself as I didn’t want to get into trouble with Disney. Just as importantly though, I didn’t want to spoil the movie for you guys. Now that the film has been out for a while, I think it’s safe to assume most of you have seen it, but for those of you that haven’t for one reason or another, please don’t continue reading this article (unless you are a spoiler fan of course).
In today’s Star Wars Theory video, I’d like to talk about Snoke’s ring again. Before I carry on though, please bear in mind that the visual dictionary was written by Pablo Hidalgo, so this isn’t just some crazy speculation made up on the fly.
The obsidian in Snoke’s ring was taken from catacombs beneath Darth Vader’s castle on Mustafar according to the visual dictionary. Because of this, many people think there has to be be a connection between Snoke and Vader, but I don’t think that’s the case. Remember, Mustafar has long had connections to the dark side of the Force (check out this video for more info) and that Snoke is ancient, so it’s not a foregone conclusion that the ring is directly connected to Darth Vader at all. I guess we will have to wait and find out, but I’m thinking the connection is more likely to be with Emperor Palpatine and Darth Plagueis. I’m not saying that there isn’t a connection between Vader and Snoke, I’d love there to be one, but for this video, I’d like to concentrate on Plagueis and Sidious.
