How Palpatine Used a Lightside Power on Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith – Star Wars Explained
Did you ever stop and think how The Emperor used the force heal power on Anakin Skywalker ? After all, the only other times we got to see the power in action was when it was used by Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope and Revenge of the Sith. The Wookiepeedia website describes the power thus…
“Force healing, Force heal, or Cure was a power that used the Forceto accelerate the natural healing process rapidly, and could be used to heal the most fatal of wounds and injuries.””
There’s also a neat little quote on the web site…
“Bacta can heal the body, but the Force can heal the soul.“―A Jedi healer
Notice the quote “A Jedi healer?” Why would Palpatine, a dark Lord of the Sirth use a Jedi power?
This section from Wookieepedia explains an interesting phenomenon: Dark Transfer
“There existed a related Force power possessed by a descendant of Darth Vader named Cade Skywalker. This power had the ability to bring others back from the brink of death, healing mortal wounds. His usage coincided with times of intense emotional distress. Cade believed he had to call upon the dark side in order to access the talent, but his former Jedi Master Wolf Sazen disputed this, believing that with proper training, the light side could accomplish such a feat as well, a position later proven correct. The Sith Lord Darth Krayt also learned this ability and mastered it after combining knowledge from Karness Muur, Darth Andeddu, and Cade Skywalker, to the extent he was able to even heal himself from death”.
In today’s Star Wars Theory video, I explain just how and why Emperor Palpatine had the ability to use this power.
