Why Chirrut Imwe had Force Powers (Canon) – Star Wars Explained
In my humble option, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is one of the better movies in the saga. It has a great story, great effects, Darth Vader and fantastic new characters. One of my favourites amongst them is Chirrut Imwe, one of the Guardians of the Whills, an order of spiritual warrior-monks. Active during the Galactic Empire, he was also a street preacher in Jedha City.
When we first get to see Chirrut, it’s in action against The Empire’s stormtroopers where he fights them with Jedi-like skills. We find out almost immediately that he isn’t one though, so how then is it that he can fight like a Jedi?
The key to this question an be found in the kyber crystal embedded into his staff. As you know, there’s been a lot of emphasis on these crystals lately. Jyn Erso wore one around here neck as does Luke Skywalker from what we can gather from recent images. Snoke has one too, a black one mounted on a ring. Then of course there’s the Death Star, which needs them to power up it’s weapon systems in order to destroy planets. Chirrut Imwe has one too, set inside the end of his staff.
In today’s Star Wars Theory video, you’ll get to learn exactly how kyber crystals fit in with Chirrut’s Jedi-like fighting skills as well as how they slot into the new canon as a whole. Lucasfilm/Disney definitely seem to be leading up to something here (the first Jedi Temple perhaps?), but more on that in the video below.
I know we have some new visitors to the website who may not be aware of the Star Wars Theory YouTube channel. There’s a lot more videos there for you guys to enjoy, so if you get a moment, feel free to come over and check them out. Everyone is welcome.
Thanks for your support guys, it really does mean a lot. Star Wars Theory wouldn’t exist without you.
As always my Jedi and Sith friends, MTFBWY.
